Build a demand profile
List normal, minimum and peak demand rather than supplying only a theoretical maximum flow. Add the required outlet pressure, inlet pressure range, building height or process elevations and any storage arrangement. This gives the control and pump combination a realistic operating envelope.
Define resilience and control
State the required number of duty and standby pumps, variable-frequency control, pressure sensing, remote signals, building-management integration, alarms and power-supply conditions. Confirm whether temporary bypass or continued supply is required during maintenance.
Check the installation environment
Provide the available room or container dimensions, access openings, floor loading, drainage, ventilation, ambient conditions and noise requirements. Claims such as quiet operation, flooding protection or integrated control depend on the chosen equipment and project execution and should be confirmed in the quotation.
Agree the supply and commissioning boundary
Identify which tanks, manifolds, valves, instruments, cabinets, cables, supports and site services belong to the requested package. Add commissioning, testing, documentation and delivery requirements. DFIN can use this boundary to prepare a clearer technical and commercial comparison.
Prepared by the DFIN editorial team as practical identification, selection and maintenance guidance. Confirm the exact product configuration and service procedure before ordering or maintenance.
