Water and wastewater projects: prepare a clear pump duty brief

Organize the process, fluid and installation information for a water or wastewater pumping discussion.

Start with the process location

Explain where the pump will operate: a transfer line, treatment-chemical system, sump or another part of the plant. Describe the task in plain terms and state whether it is a new installation or a replacement. A process description helps put the requested flow and pressure into context.

Describe what is being pumped

Provide the actual liquid composition, temperature and expected variation. Where solids are present, include available information about particle size and concentration. For chemical duties, provide the chemical name and concentration. Treat incomplete fluid information as an item to clarify before confirming materials.

Connect the duty to the installation

Include flow, discharge requirements, suction conditions, operating schedule and the available power or air supply. Add connection standards and any maintenance-access constraints. Avoid selecting equipment on port size alone; organize the complete operating requirement for review.

Prepare a project-specific enquiry

Send the duty brief to DFIN with quantity, delivery location and requested service scope. For an existing pump, attach the nameplate and any relevant installation drawings. DFIN can use this information to review the proposed equipment and identify the remaining questions before quotation.

Prepare a water-treatment enquiry

Prepared by the DFIN editorial team as practical identification, selection and maintenance guidance. Confirm the exact product configuration and service procedure before ordering or maintenance.
